We are still in this summer time of year, with school around the corner … so I thought it would be fun to share how to make kid friendly fruit salad. Simple, with only four ingredients and the kids will love it!

A 3-year-old and a soon to be 5-year-old!

Speaking of kids, I hope you enjoyed my awesome, affordable gift ideas for a 3-year-old! Miles had an amazing water party birthday and he ended the day exhausted! That evening we had dinner at a local Mexican restaurant with cousins. They brought him out a dessert and sang to him and his face was PRICELESS! He was completely shocked!

Now to plan the next party that is less than a month away … and I’m having a hard time with this one: my Harper will be turning FIVE. 5. Five. AND not to mention, she starts Kindergarten on August 2nd. Just crazy!

A new puppy …

Kindergarten, a 3-year-old, a 14-month-old and some pups …whew …this mama has her hands full!

Oh, and I should clarify pups … as you know, we lost our Shadow in May. I did a good-bye post to him and a memory post, so check those out if you haven’t. We got back from Montana and our hearts were missing something. Sully and Lily were missing a buddy as well .. and the kid’s kept talking about Shadow being in doggy heave. So, on the 4th of July we brought home a new pup.

This pup wasn’t really planned and he came to us organically due to our love of Goldens … isn’t he adorable? We named him Captain America! AKA Captain or Cap. He’s been a super good puppy so far and we are smitten!

We still miss our Shadow every day, but are certain he played a role in sending us Captain. And our other pups Sully and Lily think he’s a pretty cool addition to our pack, too!

Anyway, I best be getting to the main topic of this blog post … which is HOW TO MAKE KID FRIENDLY FRUIT SALAD!

I know a lot of fruit salads are adult-oriented or require some work to cut up the fruit. I just love this simple recipe cause I can throw it together a couple minutes before dinner and the kids think they are eating a treat … which they kind of are, but it could be worse, right?

So, first thing’s first … gather your ingredients

  • 1-2 cans Fruit Cocktail
  • 1 can Mandarin Oranges
  • Cool Whip
  • 1 cup of Marshmallows

Assemble the Ingredients

Next, drain your Fruit Cocktail and Mandarin Oranges. You can rinse with water if you desire, then place in a bowl.

Grab the Cool Whip and spoon in a 2-3 spoonful heaps. Drop in about 1 cup of marshmallows and mix together.

The Cool Whip amount is discretionary, based on your tastes .. but 2-3 spoonful heaps seem to do the trick for me. After it’s mixed well, it’s ready to enjoy or you can refrigerate it for up to a few hours.

This Fruit Salad doesn’t keep well overnight, so make only what you need for the meal … fresh is best!

I know it’s not much to this kid friendly fruit salad, but there doesn’t need to be. Kids are simple and love simple foods and simple tastes!
