Easter Farmhouse wall décor

YAY – learn how to make Easter Farmhouse wall décor as it’s time for another holiday project: EASTER! Easter is up there with Christmas in my book … there is so much hope from this holiday. Our sins are covered by Jesus’ death … but he didn’t stay dead, he arose! How awesome is that? We have so much hope and purpose and I can’t wait to meet Him one day!

Easter!

So, we all know Easter is very commercialized. It’s fun to celebrate with little kids and I do so with mine. I make sure they know the real reason for Easter and then we do the added fun things like dye eggs, get an Easter basket, hunt for eggs and eat lots and lots of candy.

It’s also fun decorating your home for the Easter holiday! Today, I plan to show you how to make an Easter farmhouse wall décor piece! This will be piece TWO in a holiday series that started with St. Patrick’s Day. You can read about that one here.

This holiday series of farmhouse wall décor is meant to either be stand-alone as each holiday arrives, or you could do a gallery type wall with all the holidays. It would also look cute on your front door to showcase the upcoming holiday!

Let’s get started!

First, you’ll need to gather your supplies. I ordered buffalo check peel and stick wallpaper, a pack of 8” x 8” wood square cutouts, along with ½” x 12” wood square dowel from Amazon. These will be the core pieces for the holiday series, if you want to join in and create one for each holiday! Then, I ordered a 5” bunny wood cutout for Easter. It even came with a cute pink cotton tail! You’ll also need paint for this project. If you don’t have any paint on hand, you can order an acrylic set that should get you through this holiday series as well.

Additionally, you’ll also need some Gorilla glue and a stapler … although you can just use glue if you don’t have a stapler.

Easter decor - Gather pieces

Assemble your Easter farmhouse wall décor

First, open your peel and stick wallpaper …. As I said, I ordered buffalo check, but you can use any pattern you want! Cut the wallpaper the size of the 8” x 8” wood cutout. I’d suggest a rough cut a bit larger than the wood cutout and then using the wood cutout as a guide to cut it to exact size. You can use scissors or an Exacto knife, if you have one.

Next, take the backing off the wallpaper and stick onto the square wood cutout. As a side, you don’t have to use wallpaper for your background. You can paint it, decoupage on a fabric, or anything else you can think of!

Time to paint

Cut your ½ x 12” wood square dowel rods to fit nicely as a frame around the square cutout. Cut two 8” and two 6 ¾”. You can use a Dremel or whatever tool you have. Now you are ready to paint your wood square dowel rods and your clover piece.

I used my acrylic paints and did a mix of white and black to make the gray I wanted. It only takes a little bit of black, so don’t use too much! I also watered down the paint a bit to make it glide on and give a “lighter” more weathered look as it went on the wood. I painted this on all four square wood dowels.

Then, I got out the white and painted the bunny. You can paint the bunny any color of your choosing, such as pink, purple or anything! The first coat of white was a bit light for me, so I added two more coats. It’s still light, but I’m happy with it! This Easter farmhouse wall décor was coming along!

Piecing the farmhouse wall décor together

Now all that’s left to this simple “how to make Easter farmhouse wall décor” is to put the pieces together. I placed the square dowels on the front edges and turned over the wood cutout. I grabbed my stapler and stapled the back to hold on the frame. You could also glue on the frame if you would like, but stapling is quick and easy!

To finish out the décor, I glued on the bunny and was done. It really only took me about 10 minutes all-in-all and makes a cute piece for my wall.
